One of the most famous of all artists who came from the Grand Rapids are is no other than Mathias Alten. Mathias Alten was an impressionist painter. Matthias Joseph Alten did work as an artist between the years of 1890 and 1938. He was best known for creating paintings of landscapes and seascapes.

Alten was also known for being a very versatile painter in a number of specialized areas. Some of these specialized areas did include portraits, florals, and animal paintings.

 

Another well-known painter from Grand Rapids was no other than Paul Collins. Paul Lamar Collins was an American realist painter. He was known best for his very skillful use of being creative with different textures, light, and lots of attention to detail. Paul Collins artwork was something that was born from his own personal study, as well as, experimentation and utter determination.

In the entertainment figure category, there was a film director by the name of Otto Brower, who was an American film director from 1928 to 1946. Brower directed a total of 45 films during his directing career in Hollywood. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and he died in Hollywood at the age of 50 from a heart attack. Some of the motion picture films that Brower directed include Avalanche, 1928, Sunset Pass, 1929, The Devil Horse, 1932, Sins of Man, 1936, and Duel in the Sun, 1946. These are just a few examples of the 45 total films that he was known for directing in Hollywood, California.

 

Lorna Gray was an American film actress. She was known for her many comedy roles in films, and later on, for playing roles of female villains. She was born under the name of Virginia Pound in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on July 26, 1917. The roles that she is best known for were from Columbia Pictures comedy shorts and Republic Pictures serials. She later changed her acting name to Adrian Booth in 1945. Some of her films do include Adventure in Sahara from 1938, Three Sappy People with the Three Stooges from 1939, and Dakota from 1945. These are just three of her many films. Gray is now 97 years old.

 

Taylor Lautner is an American actor, as well as, model and martial artist. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as Taylor Daniel Lautner on February 11, 1992. One of the roles that made him very famous is that of Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga. Lautner has managed to become both a teen idol and a sex symbol as of the late 2000s. His residence is presently in Valencia, California.
